For all laid off members: TAA mailings are being mailed by the Dept. of Labor this week W/E 10/25/2009. There are TAA workshops being put on at the ECC one stop center located at 3176 Abbott rd. Orchard Park NY 14127  (716)-270-4444. All dates are Wednesdays from 2pm-3:30 pm. The dates for the workshops are: November 4th and 18th, December 2nd and 16th.
 
Ther are some Goodyear checks showing up on the NYS comptollers unclaimed funds site. To see if you have one there go to www.osc.state.ny.us/ouf
put in your last name and click search.

 
Unemployment Reminder-If it is your Waiting Week you must file during the week you are off and certify on tuesday of the following week. If you have an open claim you certify on the Sunday following your off days.
             Example: You are off the W/E 10/18/2009. Open new claim between 10/12/2009 and 10/17/2009 and certify same new claim between 10/20/2009 and 10/23/2009. If you have an existing claim certify between 10/18/2009 and 10/23/2009.
If File a claim is an option when logging in to the unemployment insurance home page it means your old claim has expired and you must open a new claim and put in your waiting week.



The ITC ruled in favor of The USW in the 421 lawsuit filed against China on the dumping of tires in the U.S. The ruling is estimated to hit Pres. Obama's desk around Sept. 17. They have reccomended tarriffs of 55% the first yr. 45% the second yr. and 35% the third yr.
  The president signed the 421 ruling with tarriffs of 35% the first yr. 30% the 2nd and 25% the 3rd yr.

The "S.U.B." Fund level for week ending 11/15/2009 is 6.25%. A full payment will be made for this week.

You must have 3yrs. seniority to collect SUB pay.

All laid off employees have been certified for enhanced TAA and ATAA benefits. If you are laid off you will be receiving more information in the mail from The Dept. of Labor.
